This is an exceptional, highly detailed, reprousse signed
antique silver tea infuser strainer, with matching stand, depicting a wonderful rural scene of Dutch or Nederlands
origin all the way around the strainer.
The
continuous scene around the strainer or tea ball includes: a boy and girl frolicking, a man and woman visiting, a man
fishing on a dike in the distance, several windmills, a running dog, sailboat with much more background detail.
The stand is highlighted by a windmill on which to hang the strainer and below is a
drip catch bowl with a highly detailed reprousse basket of roses with an ornate wreath around the basket, all topped
by a pretty bow.
This set is not marked sterling,
so I have to assume it is silverplate, but it has no wear anywhere showing any base metal.
This charming set clearly shows Dutch life at the turn of the 19th century.
It is a well made set in excellent antique condition with no dents, dings or problems
that I can see. The little hook closure on the strainer works well as does the hinge.
This
set is marked on the stand and on the strainer with U.J.E.P. HALLMARK.
This is indeed an exceptional and most beautiful antique collectible.
