Wonderful Victorian steel bead
piecrust chatelaine purse in about as perfect condition as one could expect to fine. The beads are steel cut hex grays with
no rust. They really sparkle and shine.
The chatelaine hook and the frame, as well
as the center of the beadwork, are adorned with good sized round Persian turquoise stones. The hook is in wonderful condition
-- no repairs. It is strong and ready to wear.
The back side of the bag is doeskin in wonderful condition with no holes,
tears or worn spots. It does have soil from use.
Inside is doeskin lining in excellent condition
featuring a pocket.
There are no marks on the semi ornate frame
and I do not know what the frame is made of. It is not silverplate. Perhaps steel or even pewter, I do not know. It does not
tarnish. I have not tried to clean it, leaving it in 'as found' condition.
Plunger closure works perfectly.
No condition issues except the few missing fringes. You will not be disappointed in the quality of this bag.
