Older (1955-1979) Mexican vintage inlay
dimensional abalone sterling silver earrings in leaf design. Note inlay silver veins in leaf. The colors are dark &
vibrant, photo is a little off.
These earrings were originally screw back earrings
as you can see in the photos; they have been converted to pierced for modern wearing and the signatures were not lost.
Workmanship and design is exceptional.
The silhouette eagle mark with a 3 on these earrings indicates silver
from Taxco. The Marks inside the eagle I believe to be those of Enrique Ledesma's Shop, Plateria Ledesma & Insignia
must have been the artist.
Ledesma worked, at various times, for the shops of Spratling,
Los Castillo, and Hector Aguilar before opening his own shop, Plateria Ledesma around 1950. Ledesma died in 1979.
The
eagle mark system was insituted by the Mexican government in 1948.
The eagle mark system was put to
rest around 1979.
